Humanity First. Service that Sees Everyone.

Dr. Dean Hart has spent decades combining science, ethics, and compassion to serve those most in need. Through community outreach, vision screenings, and public health advocacy, he works to ensure every person — regardless of background — has access to respectful, dignified, ethical, and informed care.

As founder of Woodbury Optical and a licensed optometrist for over 35 years, Dean Hart has delivered thousands of eye exams to underserved and vulnerable populations. He has organized and participated in free vision screening clinics throughout Long Island, New York state and internationally, bringing essential care directly to local neighborhoods.

Vision Care That Changes Lives

Humanitarian vision care efforts include:

  • Free eye examinations for seniors, children, and low-income individuals
  • Mobile vision clinics and public health pop-ups
  • Contributed eyewear and accessible screenings for underserved communities
“Clear vision is a human right – not a privilege.”
– Dr. Dean Hart

Healthcare With Dignity

Dean’s humanitarian mission is rooted in dignity and access. He believes that science and service must go hand-in-hand, especially for people who have been overlooked by traditional healthcare systems. His outreach prioritizes:

  • Respectful, bias-free patient interactions
  • Education on eye health and general well-being
  • Compassionate treatment for patients with mental or physical health issues
  • Building trust in science through transparency and care

"8 billion people, ½ of which need glasses, ½ of which can't afford it, and ½ of which are legally blind because of it." - Dean Hart

For Dean Hart, being a humanitarian is not about charity — it’s about community. He sees every patient, student, and neighbor as part of a shared future built on empathy, science, and hope.
